Sara Koleilat-Aranjo, Member of the Executive Committee of Rising Arbitrators Initiative’s (RAI), and Partner at Al Tamimi & Co. in Dubai meets Kevin Nash, Deputy Registrar & Centre Director at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) in the next instalment of RAI’s “Interview the Institution” Series.

In this insightful dialogue with Sara, Kevin offers a glimpse into the workings of SIAC, the crown jewel of Singapore arbitration, some of the challenges that a first-time appointee may face, and what he believes to be the role of various support groups like RAI in grooming the next generation of arbitrators. Kevin shares valuable insights on the recent appointment trends at the SIAC and the criteria that the President of the SIAC Court of Arbitration applies when making appointments. Kevin also discusses the standards of admission into the SIAC Panel of Arbitrators and the various support systems established by the SIAC Secretariat to assist arbitrators. Lastly, Kevin offers very useful advice to rising arbitrators on how to secure and safely sail through their first appointment and highlights the importance of giving back to the arbitration community.
