Nhu-Hoang Tran Thang, Member of the Executive Committee of Rising Arbitrators Initiative (RAI) and Senior Associate at Peter & Kim in Geneva meets Sue Hyun Lim, Secretary General of the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board in the next instalment of RAI’s “Interview the Institution” Series.
In this engaging conversation with Hoang, Sue discusses the evolution of international arbitration in Korea and the KCAB INTERNATIONAL’s pivotal role in this growth story. She also discusses the criteria that the KCAB INTERNATIONAL considers while making appointments and the recent appointment trends at the KCAB INTERNATIONAL. Sue highlights the unique “residence” criteria for appointment of arbitrators under the KCAB INTERNATIONAL Arbitration Rules, 2016 and its relevance in the today’s time with the sudden increase in virtual hearings post-COVID-19, as well as the increased focus on not only gender or ethnic but also age diversity.
